Ink testnet overview: Key resources on the path to mainnet goals

For over a decade, Kraken has provided a safe way for users to engage with the world of crypto, helping to usher in a new era of finance. Today, that mission takes a step onchain with Ink, an OP Stack Layer 2 (L2) blockchain providing the security and safety for crypto enthusiasts to engage with the world of DeFi.

And developers, we want you to be part of it.

Overview of the Ink testnet

This invitation begins with the Ink testnet.

A testnet is an instance of the mainnet, used for testing and research purposes. Here, developers can deploy new products, look for bugs and hunt for vulnerabilities without real assets at stake.

The Ink testnet runs on Sepolia, an Ethereum proof-of-stake test network that mimics the functionality of the mainnet. Sepolia is the recommended testnet for Ethereum developers and is backed by the Ethereum Foundation.

Our testnet simulates the environment of the future Ink mainnet. It has a block explorer, ready-to-roll RPC endpoints, an easy-to-use bridge so you can bridge your Sepolia ETH to Ink, and a lot of other typical infrastructure you’ll find on mainnet.

We invite you to try it. Here are some resources to get started.

How to Bridge Sepolia ETH to Ink

To bridge Sepolia ETH to the Ink testnet, follow these steps:

    1. Get Sepolia ETH from one of the available public faucets.
    2. Send that Sepolia ETH to the L1StandardBridge contract address: 0xC0d337f71aD19a8f17a1b297cDb3a86c5EEf9Eec

Our Ink op-node will automatically pick up the L1 transactions and process them to the L2 state. Once the process is complete, you will see your Sepolia ETH on the Ink testnet.
